A local client contracted with Laser Geomatics, a division of Bohannan Huston, Inc. to provide
onsite quantity takeoffs to better control contract payments to roadway contractors. Laser
Geomatics scanned the stockpiles, registered and post-processed the data in the field, and provided
quantity totals within 1 1/2 hours after beginning the data collection. From testing multiple
takeoffs, it was determined that these quantities were accurate to within +/-5% of actual
stockpile quantities.
Laser Geomatics, using its custom mobile scanning unit, can provide these types of services
throughout the Southwest United States, proving again that Ground-Based LIDAR high definition
surveying is both cost-effective and efficient, and provides another means for accurate data collection.
